Phytomedicines for Joint Pain.
Chronic joint inflammatory disorders such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis have in common an upsurge of inflammation, and oxidative stress, resulting in progressive histological alterations and disabling symptoms. Currently used conventional medication (ranging from pain-killers to biological agents) is potent, but frequently associated with serious, even life-threatening side effects. Used for millennia in traditional herbalism, medicinal plants are a promising alternative, with a lower rate of adverse events and efficiency frequently compared with that of conventional drugs.
The effectiveness of OPTM’s phyto compounds.
The phytomedicine used in OPTM ‘s treatment contains active phyto compounds with improved bioavailability
(the proportion of a drug or other substance which enters the circulation when introduced into the body and so is able to have an active effect.)
A mixture of Nano Curcuminoids derived from Curcuma longa and 90% Boswelic acid derived from Boswellia serrata has been shown to be more efficient than a standard dose of celecoxib (a selective COX-2 inhibitor) in the treatment of osteoarthritis, improving both objectively and subjectively the condition of the patients, with no toxicity detectable by clinical examination and laboratory tests (hemogram, liver and renal function tests)* Curcuminoids and Boswellic acid used in OPTM’s formulation has been shown to be useful in knee osteoarthritis, reducing the pain and preserving functionality with an efficiency equivalent to ibuprofen, but with fewer gastrointestinal side effects^
